Warmer water and lots of rain is really turing on a great Snook bite. Over the past couple weeks we have received a record amount of rainfall putting lots of water on are area mangroves shores and docks. Early in the morning we have been using topwater plugs along some of the magrove edges for some spectactular action packed action that will make the heart skip a few beats when a big line-sider of a Snook blasts that top water lure close to the edges.
Once hooked up the fight is on, these fish have the reputation for not fighting fair. The first thing they try to do is pull you into the Mangroves that they came out of to eat your bait in the first place, sometimes they succeed but thats the fun of it.
Once the sun gets up a bit we have been switching up the tactics and using subsurface lures such as grubs and suspending twitch baits for some more great Snook action. The bite tends to be short lived due to the day-time heating so an early morning start has been key since your best bite tends to come before 10am. |
